Live today! 124 countries ready to hack for climate change at COP27
Today Hack for Earth Youth hackathon at COP27 starts with a livestreamed Opening Ceremony at 3PM CET, and youth from all over the world will start working to create real solutions to climate change.
124 countries are represented in the lineup and the number of competing teams are 1850.
-The urgency of climate change has never been greater, and the contribution of youth to bring about real solutions to climate change cannot be overestimated, says Secretary General Ann Molin of the Hack for Earth Foundation.
The global hackathon is hosted in collaboration with UNFCCC, UNEP, UNICEF, SIDA, World Bank and several other organizations.
SEVEN CHALLENGES
There are seven challenges the teams will compete in:
1.Transport
2. Agriculture
3. Biodiversity
4. Smart Cities
5. Energy
6. Natural Resources Management
7. Sustainable Digital Solutions.
PITCH TO WORLD LEADERS AT UN CLIMATE CONFERENCE COP27 IN EGYPT
Youth aged 16-35 from all over the world are joining the hackathon, to use their diverse skills to create solutions tackling climate change. Winners in the seven challenges will present their solutions to world leaders at the UN climate conference COP27 in Egypt, on November 14th, in the United Nations Climate Change Global Innovation Hub. The winning teams will also join a 3 month Build for Earth acceleration program, designed to make their solutions a reality.
