Improved wayfinding at the POS and multilingual retail packaging strengthen international sales
With a completely redesigned packaging concept, Hob Creations GmbH, manufacturer of the Lechuza and Pon brands, is strategically strengthening the market position of its Pon plant substrates in the international retail sector. The focus is on more efficient international distribution, clear messaging in the packaging design, and improved orientation at the point of sale. The proven composition of the substrates remains unchanged, serving as a modern alternative to soil and clay granulate.
Focus on Internationalization
A central component of the new packaging is the focus on international marketing. Different language clusters define country-specific variants, simplify product listings, and create more efficient processes in logistics and warehousing.
Clear customer messaging and maximum visibility
The relaunch also centers on a consistently application-oriented user guide: The new labeling by usage areas—such as “for citrus plants”—makes it easier to choose from the product range. Three prominent product benefits on the front of the packaging further support quick purchasing decisions. In addition, large-scale images of the substrate clearly differentiate the product from traditional potting soil.
The design is rounded out by a distinctive color concept that ensures recognition on the shelf. The redesign of the substrate bags thus specifically helps both sales staff and end consumers navigate the product range and lays the foundation for additional sales impulses.
The new packaging concept is based on a comprehensive shopper study by Hob Creations, with results showing that, in particular, clear application logic and visual differentiation are key drivers of the purchasing decision. These findings were consistently incorporated into the new design.
Proven product quality in a new design
With twelve peat-free specialty substrates, Pon offers garden retailers a high-quality assortment tailored to different plant needs. The mineral and, in some cases, organic-mineral components replace traditional potting soil and clay granulate. Thanks to their high drainage capacity, Pon’s substrates ensure good root aeration, prevent waterlogging, and provide no breeding ground for gnats. When combined with planters from the sister brand Lechuza, they form a well-designed system of substrates and an irrigation system.
Pon’s new brand identity combines proven product quality with a clearly structured, international brand strategy. The result is a comprehensive concept consistently geared toward retailers that simplifies product selection, enhances brand perception, and specifically drives additional impulse purchases.
