HX EXPEDITIONS & OFFICIAL BRAND AMBASSADOR MONTY HALLS LAUNCH YOUTUBE GALÁPAGOS SERIES
The Marine Biologist and TV presenter has headed back to the Galápagos Islands to film a special series for HX Expeditions, bringing to life the unique offering of these amazing islands, wildlife and people.
HX Expeditions, the world's first and longest-running expedition cruise company, has announced the launch of a brand-new YouTube series filmed in the iconic Galápagos Islands with their local partners Metropolitan Touring.
The exclusive ten-part series, which will be published in two parts, sees Monty return to the Galápagos to showcase HX Expeditions unique expedition offering, exploring the extraordinary biodiversity, conservation efforts, and local communities that make the islands one of the most remarkable destinations on Earth. Through immersive storytelling and first-hand experiences, the ten-part series bring viewers closer to the wildlife, landscapes and people that define this natural wonder. The series ranges from his arrival in Quito through to episodes such as ‘Legends of the Land’ as well as ‘Life Underwater’. The series features amazing wildlife shots by renown videographer Greg Lander Williams (who has filmed for Netflix, BBC, and Channel 4) and features interviews with expedition guides and guests.
As well as his HX ambassadorial role, Halls is also President of the Galapagos Conservation Trust which he explains in the series.
Monty Halls said: “The Galápagos has always held a very special place in my heart. It’s one of the few places left on Earth where you can truly witness nature operating on its own terms – raw, unfiltered and extraordinary. Filming this YouTube series in the Galápagos Islands has been a real privilege. What I love about this project is that it allows us to go beyond the surface - to tell the deeper stories of the wildlife, the conservation challenges and successes, and the remarkable people who call these islands home. The Galápagos isn’t just beautiful; it’s profoundly important to our understanding of the natural world, and I’m passionate about sharing that sense of wonder and responsibility with a wider audience. I hope the series inspires people to fall in love with these islands just as I have.”
Gebhard Rainer, HX CEO added: “At HX Expeditions, our passion for conservation and science underpins everything we do, especially in a destination as globally significant as the Galápagos Islands. Supporting research, championing responsible exploration and working closely with the scientific community are fundamental to our approach. We are incredibly proud that our Galápagos sailings operate 100% carbon neutral, ensuring that guests can experience this extraordinary ecosystem while contributing to its long-term protection – something which is explained in the series.”
Monty filmed the series on the Santa Cruz II on the 9-day Galápagos Islands - In Darwin’s Footsteps (Eastern Route) – a 9-day all-inclusive Galápagos expedition cruise with round-trip flights from Quito. The Santa Cruz II has operated as a carbon-neutral expedition cruises in the archipelago since launching its programme in 2022. The 50-cabin vessel, fully upgraded in 2021, features a locally inspired restaurant, Science Centre, Discovery Room, sky deck, fitness centre, hot tubs, and 36 interconnecting cabins - more than any other ship in the archipelago and ideal for families.
More Islands to Discover
While audiences can follow Monty’s adventures online, guests will also have the opportunity to travel with him in person this May with HX. Monty is headlining two exclusive HX expedition sailings to the Western Isles of Scotland, departing 7 May 2026 and 17 May 2026.
These special itineraries will include exclusive Big Blue Bag sessions; part of Monty Halls’ citizen science conservation initiative developed with the HX Foundation. Each Big Blue Bag contains simple research equipment that enables guests to take part in hands-on environmental monitoring, collecting data on microplastics, coastal debris, biodiversity and water temperature, which is uploaded to a global open-access database via the Coreo app.
The voyages will also feature personal Q&A events and a dedicated talk on Monty’s forthcoming book, launching in April this year, alongside a programme of curated activities. Taking place exclusively with Monty on board on the above departure dates, these sailings offer guests a rare opportunity to explore the Scottish Western Isles in his company while actively contributing to marine conservation research.
