Of special note this year will the remembrance of the eleven passengers from Addergoole Parish North Mayo who lost their lives. Children from the parish will participate in the Cobh Titanic commemoration and read the names of those eleven during the service.
Christina Burke, who is organising the trip and is the Society’s Treasurer says:
“This invitation to attend the 99th anniversary Cobh Titanic commemorations is a very fitting tribute to the eleven people from the Lahardane locality who perished when RMS Titanic sank. The Children learnt about the history in school and from their parents and grandparents, and are very proud to represent the parish and Addergoole's loss.”
