SAP HANA Architecture

Data is summarized by different compression methods e.g. run-length encoding, sparse encoding, dictionary encoding, cluster encoding, indirect encoding) in SAP HANA Column store.

If main memory boundary is reached in SAP HANA, the all database objects that are not related will be unloaded from the main memory and stored into the disk.

These objects names are defined by application semantic and reloaded into main memory from the disk when needed again. Under normal conditions, SAP HANA database manages unloading and loading of data automatically.
