Exploring the art of travel photography in Nepal
Experiencing the wild and untouched landscapes of Nepal is for many a dream trip. Boutique travel agency Wire has teamed up with professional photographer Nikolaz Godet and Nepal expert Roshan Raj, to deliver the ultimate journey of discovery. A 15-day itinerary will help amateur and aspiring travel photographers develop their skills as they travel through some of the most stunning scenery imaginable and encounter the spiritual and cultural diversity that is a key part of Nepalese society.
The tour, named CLICKAGE has been designed to access some of the most remote parts of Nepal, giving travellers a wide and varied experience of the country - from snow-capped peaks and life for rural communities who live amongst the many mountain ranges, to the thriving and fast-evolving capital, Kathmandu. Participants will learn a variety of techniques and focus on a multi-faceted approach, encompassing lighting conditions, focal length, composition, white balance, exposure, noise and digital workflow, as well as helping them to develop their own reportage style. Nikolaz brings a wealth of expertise to the experience having spent the past 15 years working as a professional photographer, devoting much of his time travel and understanding the complex cultures of both Nepal and India.
The style of the tour will be more geared towards the adventure-minded traveller - often trekking by foot is the only way to reach the vantage points and small villages that Nikolaz and Roshan have incorporated in to the trip.
Khaled Hussain, marketing director for Wire explains how CLICKAGE varies from their other tours: "The aim of this tour is purely to take aspiring photographers out in to some of the most beautiful and remote scenery that Nepal has to offer. The accommodation might be basic in some areas, but it's a chance to see the real Nepal - and before it becomes too commercialised. Nikolaz and Roshan have found an excellent balance in creating the itinerary so we're delighted to be able to bring this to our more adventurous clients."
Nepal is actively developing its tourism sector wit the government targeting one million foreign visitors in 2011. While Kathmandu moves towards being a modern and diverse capital and tourism infrastructure is being developed, it is still possible to find completely untouched areas that are not well known and have not yet made their way on to the tourist trail.
CLICKAGE departs on 17th March 2011, starting in Kathmandu and takes participants to Pokhara, Sarankot, Nayapul, Ulleri, Poon Hill, Tadapani, Ghandruk and Chitwan National Park before returning to Kathmandu. Prices start from £1045 (€1250 / US$1700 / A$ 1750) per person on a twin-sharing basis, excluding flights which can be arranged.
