Stockholm launches website for international immigrants

There is much to consider when moving to a new country. Stockholm is therefore launching a website for people who are interested in moving here or have just done so. The new site explains the advantages of Stockholm and offers concrete tips on things that it may be wise to keep in mind.

According to a study of 1,000 respondents carried out by the City of Stockholm, 86 percent of immigrants flourish here. Stockholm’s international atmosphere, equal society, almost free childcare, beauty and closeness to water and nature all attract talented people to move here. What is missing is a collection of practical information. Therefore, the City of Stockholm is launching a website that will help answer common questions.

The website contains information about how to acquire a Swedish personal identification number and how the housing market works in Stockholm. The goal is also to offer inspiration and show why Stockholm is one of the world’s best cities in which to live, and why it adds two years to life expectancy. The site contains tips and links to practical things like recruitment agencies and various housing waiting lists.

It also has a wealth of information that may be valuable for spouses and families, such as an explanation of how the Swedish healthcare system works.

“We want the website to offer a collection of information that would otherwise require searching multiple authorities to learn about,” says Olle Zetterberg, CEO of Stockholm Business Region, who produced the content. “We will develop the website gradually.”

The website is called www.visitstockholm.com/movingtostockholm
