Our Goal: Help Save One Million Lives – status update
In 2020, we set an ambitious goal: to help save one million more lives – every year – by 2030. This is a shared mission across all our companies. It gives direction and meaning to the work we do, every single day.
Now, our latest Impact Update is live on the newly updated One Million Lives website. There, you can explore our progress toward 2030 and see the tangible results that are beginning to take shape.
The report features powerful stories, clear data, and key milestones from our four focus areas:
- Improving survival in communities
- Enhancing quality of care in health systems
- Making childbirth safer
- Strengthening emergency care in low-resource settings
Read the report to see how our work is impacting both lifesavers – and the lives they save.
Highlights Since 2020:
- Over 15 million people have learned CPR through game-based and digital solutions – including 200,000 football fans during UEFA 2024
- 2 million healthcare professionals maintain CPR competence through the RQI program, with an estimated impact of 8,000 lives saved annually
- 75% reduction in maternal deaths and 40% fewer newborn deaths in Tanzania through the Safer Births Bundle of Care
- A commitment to scale the WHO’s Basic Emergency Care program, with the potential to reduce mortality from trauma and sepsis by 50% – and save an additional 50,000 lives over the next three years
In total, we estimate that the projects we support are already helping save around 300,000 more lives annually. With continued scaling and expansion, we could reach 700,000 to 900,000 – and possibly one million – more lives saved each year compared to 2019.
