Press release

A new chapter in the BOLIA story

After more than 21 years of successful leadership, growth and global expansion, CEO Lars Lyse Hansen has decided, together with the Board of Directors, that the time is right to announce a planned CEO succession.

During the past two decades, BOLIA has grown from a small Danish furniture company into a world-renowned design brand with a strong sustainability profile, more than 100 stores across 14 markets, online sales across 30 markets and a global network of more than 400 wholesale partners.

The planned CEO succession comes at a time when BOLIA has never stood stronger. With a clear long-term strategy, an exceptionally talented team and exciting opportunities ahead, the company is strongly positioned to continue its successful growth and global expansion.

Lars Lyse Hansen, CEO of BOLIA, says:

It has been the greatest privilege of my professional career to have led BOLIA for more than 21 years and to have worked alongside so many talented colleagues, designers, manufacturers, agents, dealers, partners and loyal customers around the world. Looking back, I feel immensely proud and grateful for everything we have created together, and for the positivity, passion and creativity that have shaped our company and our remarkable journey.

I am also thankful for the strong collaboration I have shared with our owner, Jacob Brunsborg, Chairman Jan Bøgh and the Board of Directors throughout more than 21 years. Their trust has given me and everyone at BOLIA the opportunity to build a company that is truly loved.”

The next chapter of growth and development

Thomas Bendiks Lauridsen, currently COO of BOLIA, has been appointed as the company’s next CEO. Having worked closely with Lars Lyse Hansen and the BOLIA leadership team for nearly three years, Thomas Bendiks Lauridsen represents both continuity and the next generation of leadership, making him the natural choice to lead BOLIA into its next chapter of successful growth and expansion.

Thomas Bendiks Lauridsen says:

“I am truly honoured and excited to have been entrusted with the opportunity to lead BOLIA into its next chapter. Together with our talented colleagues, designers and partners, I look forward to building on our strong foundation and continuing BOLIA’s journey of growth, innovation and inspiring design.”

Lars Lyse Hansen will remain CEO until 31 August 2027, working closely alongside Thomas Bendiks Lauridsen throughout the coming year to ensure a seamless transition and the continued successful development of BOLIA.

Lars Lyse Hansen concludes:

I cannot imagine a better time to hand over the responsibility to Thomas and the dedicated BOLIA team. Having the coming year to work side by side gives us the opportunity to ensure a smooth handover while keeping BOLIA moving forward successfully.

Thereafter, I look forward to pursuing new creative adventures through entrepreneurship, board work and investments — while spending a little more time with my family and perhaps even taking on a few more mountaineering adventures.

Every great story deserves a beautiful next chapter. This is not the end of one story, but the beginning of three new ones: for BOLIA, for Thomas and for me.”
