Lufthansa Cargo welcomes brand-new Boeing 777F to Frankfurt
Fleet modernisation continues: two MD-11Fs to be phased out by the end of the year
A brand-new Boeing 777F which is now part of the Lufthansa Cargo fleet landed at Frankfurt Airport at 8:10 am today. The new aircraft, registered as D-ALFF, arrived from Everett, Washington, USA, and was received with a welcome ceremony after its official ferry flight with flight number LH8145. Lufthansa Cargo’s sixth Boeing 777F will soon start scheduled operations.
Harald Gloy, Chief Operations Officer and Member of the Board of Lufthansa Cargo, personally welcomed the aircraft and its first crew. “We are delighted to welcome the sixth Boeing 777F freighter to our fleet today. This aircraft is the quietest and most efficient in its class – and therefore the freighter of our choice for our ongoing fleet modernization”, explained Gloy.
Lufthansa Cargo has ordered a further brand-new Boeing 777F, which is expected to be delivered in spring. Later this year, two MD-11F aircraft will go out of service. Lufthansa Cargo will then operate seven Boeing 777F and ten MD-11F aircraft. The fleet modernisation is due to be completed by 2025 at the latest.
