Fast-growing Swedish company Steamery uses car sharing service M Business to personalize deliveries -- and to promote more sustainable mobility

Fast-growing apparel care company Steamery today announced an agreement with M Business, the smart car sharing service Volvo Car Mobility launched in September 2019. Forgoing the conventional company-owned fleet, Steamery chose M Business for its enhanced availability and sustainability profile. During the holiday season, Steamery will also use M Business to hand-deliver online purchases in Stockholm, adding a more personal touch to their customer experience.

Steamery’s apparel care range has proven wildly successful. The company wants to help customers move away from “throw away” fashion and instead embrace “slow fashion.” Its products feature hi-tech engineering and Scandinavian design. Steamery has taken off, seeing growth nearly triple year on year. Steamery’s focus on responsible resource use extends beyond its products, as evidenced by its choice of M Business for its employees’ mobility needs.

A privately owned car sits idle 95 percent of the time on average; however, car sharing can significantly improve efficiency. International studies show that one shared car can replace between 10 and 13 privately owned cars.* M Business offers more flexible, sustainable and innovative car sharing, and its pay-as-you-go model means that customers only pay for what they actually use.

“We love the idea of sharing cars with others and working together to improve the quality of life in our cities. More sustainable car utilization, combined with the flexibility that M Business provides, have been key factors behind our decision to choose M Business. It’s smart, smooth and stylish. This creates an overall experience that makes it more enjoyable to drive - when you choose to," says Petra Ringström, CEO of Steamery.

Volvo Car Mobility wants M Business customers to see car sharing as a way to achieve better results. Initially, Steamery will use M Business on weekdays before Christmas Eve to hand-deliver packages in the greater Stockholm area. Steamery sees this as a way to add a personal touch to the customer experience, which it wouldn’t ordinarily achieve by using a conventional courier service.

“It’s exciting to see how we’re attracting a new type of business customer that sees M Business as an opportunity to realize new ideas and strengthen their core business. But we’re only at the beginning of this mobility evolution, which we hope, in time, will significantly reduce the number of cars in our cities. Car-centric cities are already an outdated ideal. We see our customer relationships as a means to achieving a greater task,” says Bodil Eriksson, CEO of Volvo Car Mobility.

This agreement is just one of hundreds of M Business contracts signed since its launch in September. M Business is geared toward businesses looking for a car sharing service that combines sustainability, accessibility and digital performance with premium customer service.
