Fitness at home or elsewhere: why not both?

As humans, the pandemic shook us.

As consumers, however, the pandemic spoiled us. With businesses clamoring to make sure people can still access their products, nearly everything imaginable has been adapted for the at-home consumer. Convenience and accessibility have become more necessary than ever. Goods of all sorts delivered to our doorsteps, remote work, at-home workouts, and the list goes on. The world is truly shifting to a reality where no one really needs to leave their house.

With COVID restrictions lifting across much of the world, some of us can hardly wait to burst out of our confined lifestyles and return to our once-bustling social lives. Others of us are less eager; cautiously stepping out from time to time, but still perfectly content with the comforts and conveniences of home.

Nearly every industry has been impacted by the pandemic, and the fitness industry is no exception. Fitness companies adapted their solutions for at-home home use to keep their members happy. It suddenly became easier than ever to squeeze workouts in between meetings, skip the commute, and avoid high membership fees. Even with restrictions lifting, fitness at home continues to be a popular choice.

For those that have returned to the gym or are planning to, it is easy to understand why. Whether it’s the atmosphere of the gym you prefer, or simply just having a dedicated space for all the equipment you need, a gym can be a sacred space.

But what about those of us that like a little bit of both? Or like to have the freedom to choose on a day-to-day basis? Introducing: the hybrid fitness model.

What exactly is the hybrid fitness model?

While not entirely new, the hybrid fitness model basically involves combining in-person and virtual fitness solutions into one offering. It gives members the freedom of choice and offers more flexibility. Fitness centers and solutions across the globe have begun to adopt the hybrid model to give their members a better all-around experience.

But is Motosumo technically hybrid?

With the Motosumo app providing virtual, live, indoor cycling classes, you might argue that we aren’t technically hybrid. However, we like to refer to ourselves as the hybrid hybrid. Our classes are streamed in real-time and are chock-full of other supportive and dedicated members. Each live workout provides all the convenience and flexibility of virtual fitness, with the excitement and humanness of an in-person class.

Our members choose to use the Motosumo app in all different ways. Here’s what a few of them have to say about where they ride with Motosumo:

“I used to go to the gym as well, but have canceled my gym membership since I now have Motosumo. I also have a treadmill at home now, too” - Vince

Totally at home - which is why I love this app. No driving anywhere 👍👍👍” - Shannon

“I go to the gym (to use Motosumo) because I don't have the space for a bike at home... I use to take spin classes, but my work schedule conflicts with the ones offered in my area” - Dana

Take Motosumo anywhere

Whether you’re more of a gym-goer or prefer sweating it out at home, Motosumo can go with you. Say, for example, you enjoy taking indoor cycling classes at your gym. But what happens if you can’t make the scheduled class time? Or perhaps the class that works for your schedule is already full? Or maybe you’re finally able to take that vacation you’ve been planning and want to join a class from the hotel gym - we’ve got you covered.

With a Motosumo subscription, you can take your phone to any bike at any gym, open your app, and join an online class whenever suits you. The app offers more available class times than your average gym, classes on-demand, and unlimited capacity in every class. Joining a cycling workout with friends near and far has never been easier or more accessible.

Curious to get started? Download the Motosumo app and get a week of unlimited Live and On Demand rides on us.
