Strava recently stopped supporting Bluetooth and ANT+ sensors. Motosumo has a workaround.

Last year, Strava dropped support for external Bluetooth and ANT+ sensors. Thanks to a new integration, Motosumo has a workaround.

Motosumo works with any Bluetooth-enabled indoor bike (including those with ANT+ sensors) and most heart rate monitors to record data from indoor cycling and group fitness workouts. The new Strava integration automatically uploads all your Motosumo workouts to your Strava account. So, it's still possible to use external sensors and share the data on Strava

It’s super easy to set up.

First, link your Motosumo and Strava accounts. Here’s how:

Next, connect an external sensor and join a workout session. Connecting sensors is pretty straight forward, but if you need a hand, we made a bunch of tutorial videos:

Here’s one for connecting Bluetooth-enabled heart rate monitors and indoor bikes;

One for connecting ICG bikes;

And one for 4iiii power meters.

If you’re using a bike with ANT+ sensor, you can connect to Motosumo by converting the signal with a CABLE device. Here’s a how-to guide.

A quick word on compatibility:

We’ve managed to connect all manner of Bluetooth-enabled heart rate monitors, but there are a few out there that won’t play nice. Mostly the watches. Don’t get mad at us, though! A lot of them aren’t designed to be compatible with external apps. At least not for the time being.

If you haven't already, download Motosumo for iOS or Android, and start sharing your indoor cycling and heart-rate workouts with your Strava pals!
