Motosumo lands partnership with French group fitness innovators

Motosumo, the cutting-edge group fitness app, has announced a partnership with Genae Fitness Club. The French fitness chain is one of the country’s leaders in group fitness, with over 5,000 members and a thriving indoor cycling community.

For years Genae has been making a name for itself as an innovator in the industry. “On several occasions we’ve been the first operator to embrace new technology for group fitness,” said CEO, Anthony Barquisseau. “Motosumo is the perfect development partner for us and a brilliant way to update the group fitness experience for all our members. We’re super proud to be the first gym in France to team up with them.”

Genae’s decision to partner with Motosumo has a lot to do with logistics. Their indoor cycling studios are some of the largest in Europe, with around 60 to 75 indoor bikes at each site. A dream for indoor cycling fanatics, but a nightmare when it comes to implementing new technology. With so many bikes, not all of them built to the same specifications, it was important for Genae to get a solution that could be implemented quickly and without fuss.

“It’s one of the things that makes our tech so unique,” said Kresten Juel Jensen, CEO and co-founder at Motosumo. “It relies on smartphone sensors to generate data, so it works with literally any indoor bike. Our partnership with Genae is thrilling for us. It’s given us an opportunity to get our solution running on a huge scale, almost instantly!”

Genae has already started using Motosumo in its indoor cycling classes. Riders are loving the instant fitness tracking data, plus the fun gamification and community features. They've also been taking advantage of Motosumo’s ability to connect to external sensors, hooking up heart rate monitors for extra fitness metrics while they ride.

The app is already up and running at Genae’s HQ in Lyon, with plans to get the other studios on board in the new year.
