Press release —
INDUSTRY LEADERS GATHER IN GOTHENBURG TO DISCUSS EUROPE’S PATH TOWARDS 2035
The European automotive industry is entering a decisive phase, where strategic decisions made in the coming years will shape competitiveness throughout the next decade. Building on the insights from the Code over Chrome report, Nexer is now bringing together more than 300 leading voices from across the automotive and transportation ecosystem in Gothenburg for Business by the Docks – a strategic forum focused on Europe’s path towards 2035.
Business by the Docks takes place on May 29 at Lindholmen in Gothenburg as part of Automotive Weekend and is organised in collaboration with Gothenburg Classic Car Weekend. Throughout the day, decision-makers, experts and leading industry profiles from across the automotive and transportation ecosystem will gather for keynote presentations, panel discussions and strategic conversations about Europe’s direction towards 2035.
Representatives from organisations including Zenseact, Einride, Polestar, Volvo Group, Geely, Volvo Cars, Business Region Göteborg, Evroc and Chalmers University of Technology will participate, together with an exclusive selection of stakeholders from across the industrial, technology and mobility sectors.
– For us, this is about connecting past and future. We are gathering in the city where Sweden’s automotive industry began nearly 100 years ago, and together with Nexer we are bringing the industry together to discuss what is required moving forward, says Fredrik Dahlgren, initiator of Gothenburg Classic Car Weekend & Business by the Docks.
The forum focuses on concrete strategic choices in an industry where value chains are shifting, regional collaboration is increasing, and the need for coordination is growing. Based on Nexer’s trend report Code over Chrome, the perspective moves from analysis to execution – addressing which priorities are needed now and how Europe can turn insight into real competitiveness.
– This is not another industry gathering. Business by the Docks is a forum for the players who want to help shape Europe’s automotive future and discuss the decisions and partnerships required to get there, says Pierre Renhult, Automotive Industry Partner at Nexer.
In addition to the strategic programme, Business by the Docks also becomes a meeting place where the history and future of the automotive industry come together in practice. Visitors will experience classic Ferraris, Le Mans race cars, Volvo’s new EX60 and the iconic Mercedes-Benz 300 SL “Gullwing” – a model whose racing version was recently sold for approximately 140 million dollars at international auction. During the day, Ronnie Peterson’s Formula 1 car, the March 721X from the 1972 season, will also be started and driven on-site.
Business by the Docks thus becomes a meeting place for both the industry’s heritage and its future direction – with Gothenburg as the backdrop for the conversations shaping Europe’s next automotive chapter.
