NGK Introduces EnerCerLight® STAGE, Combining High Battery Safety with an Ultra-Thin, Compact Design for Entertainment Merchandise
Nagoya, Japan – April 2026 — As safety expectations for consumer electronics continue to rise globally, NGK Corporation has introduced EnerCerLight® STAGE, a compact light-up base for acrylic stands that combines a high level of battery safety with an ultra-thin, lightweight design for entertainment merchandise and public-facing products. The base is powered by EnerCera®, NGK’s proprietary lithium-ion rechargeable battery technology. Unlike conventional lithium-ion batteries, which often require heavier structures or strict layout constraints to manage fire and overheating risks, EnerCera is designed from the outset to deliver both safety and compactness without trade-offs. EnerCerLight STAGE was showcased and sold as official merchandise at the first virtual live event of the popular Japanese anime series 【OSHI NO KO】.
Safety and Compactness, Designed Together
In many consumer products, improving battery safety typically results in larger, heavier, or more rigid designs. As a result, battery-powered products for public venues have often been limited in size, layout, or visual flexibility.
EnerCera takes a different approach. Its semi-solid battery structure, implemented in the EnerCera® Pouch at just 0.45 mm thickness, is engineered to significantly reduce the risk of ignition and excessive heat generation while remaining inherently thin and lightweight. Because safety and form factors are addressed simultaneously at the battery level, the base enables electronic functionality in products that must remain small, thin, and visually unobtrusive, without relying on bulky protective housing or complex mitigation measures.
