NIIS CEO Ville Sirviö Appointed to the United Nations DPI Safeguards Strategic Advisory Board

The Nordic Institute for Interoperability Solutions (NIIS) is proud to announce that its CEO, Ville Sirviö, has joined the newly established Strategic Advisory Board of the UN DPI Safeguards initiative. This high-level board, convened by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Office of the Envoy on Technology (OET), plays an essential role in providing independent guidance on the adoption, country-level implementation, and long-term evolution of the Universal DPI Safeguards Framework

“I’m honoured to join the DPI Safeguards Strategic Advisory Board,” said Sirviö. “Together with an inspiring group of experts, we will help ensure that safeguards become the norm—not the exception—in how we build digital public infrastructure that leaves no one behind.”

The DPI Safeguards initiative seeks to ensure that DPI systems—such as digital ID, payments, and data exchange platforms—are developed in ways that are safe, inclusive, rights-based, and sustainable. The Strategic Advisory Board brings together global experts and thought leaders from the public and private sectors, academia, and civil society to advise on strategic direction, governance, and partnerships.
