In a new report, mainstream sustainability indicators are linked to key activities to meet the overarching global challenges of climate action, ocean health, biodiversity, reducing the footprint of food production and creating shared value.

The report presents actual examples of how Cermaq and the global aquaculture industry can help in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Increased food production in the sea is a key point. In parallel, transparency and traceability throughout the value chain must be ensured to positively affect consumer preference towards sustainably raised salmon.

“The impact from food production is a balance of positive and negative elements. It is not only emissions; it is also workplaces and value creation. Aquaculture is strongly weighted towards the positive side and we aim to improve this even further,” says CEO Geir Molvik.

Global challenges require cooperation on global solutions. In the end, it is all about sustainability and how we together can support the internationally shared goals to cap rising global temperature at 1.5°C, and feed a growing global population with nutritious, healthy and sustainable food.

The digital report has links to Cermaq’s GRI report, which has been assured by the company’s external auditors.
