With works by Ragna Bley, Ida Ekblad, Oscar Murillo and Albert Oehlen in The Twist, a comprehensive solo exhibition with Issy Wood at Nybruket Gallery, and a monumental new sculpture by Dana Schutz, Kistefos invites the public to encounter artistry that demonstrates the continued relevance and expressive power of painting.

Kistefos is proud to present the first major museum exhibition of American sculptor Kathleen Ryan. Following its debut at Hamburger Kunsthalle in 2024, the exhibition opened at Kistefos on 4 May 2025. Showcasing works from the first decade of Ryan’s artistic practice, the exhibition features twenty-five sculptures displayed across two venues: Nybruket Gallery and the industrial-era Tresliperiet.
For the 2025 season, Kistefos is proud to present Living in the Wake, the first major solo exhibition in the Nordic region by acclaimed American artist Christina Quarles (b. 1985). Staged within the architectural landmark The Twist, the exhibition offers a comprehensive survey of Quarles’ work and includes two entirely new paintings created specifically for the show.
Høsten 2024 inviterte Stiftelsen Kistefos-Museet 28 nøye utvalgte arkitektkontorer til prekvalifisering om å utforme et nytt museumsbygg. Nå står åtte finalister igjen i konkurransen om å forme Kistefos’ fremtid. Det nye museumsbygget, planlagt åpnet i 2031, vil bli et permanent hjem for den betydelige kunstsamlingen bygget opp av Christen Sveaas.

In 2025, Kistefos will present an exhibition programme with works by three internationally renowned contemporary artists: Christina Quarles, Kathleen Ryan and Nairy Baghramian. Through the theme ‘The Corporeal and Intersectionality’, this year's programme invites an in-depth reflection on the body as both physical form and cultural symbol, while offering visually striking artistic experiences.

Salon Paintings surveys Anderson’s celebrated Barbershop Series, from the earliest Barbershop paintings and related Studio Drawings he made in 2006, through to new paintings on view for the first time with which the series culminates.
