Newbuilding at Kleven: Will complete PSV in collaboration with Havyard

​Kleven Verft will do the outfitting, testing and delivery of a Havyard 833 WE platform supply vessel (PSV) as a subcontractor for Havyard's shipyard in Leirvik, Norway.

The agreement is divided into two parts, and the first part of planning and the pre-project is started. Final contract for part two of the agreement will be finalized in a few weeks, when the preliminary project is complete.

- This is an important assignment for us, as we can utilize the capacity at the yard in a good way until delivery. PSV is a product which all employees at Kleven have a high level of expertise, and we look forward to work with an offshore ship again. The process together with key employees in Havyard has been consistently positive and characterized by mutual trust and a common goal to achieve this. We are looking forward to further good collaboration with Havyard, says CEO Kjetil Bollestad in Kleven Verft.

The vessel that Kleven Verft will complete for Havyard is an energy efficient PSV with a large cargo capacity, 1000 square meters of working deck and interior for 54 persons. The PSV will among other things get ice class ICE-1B for operation in cold water, and a 650-kW battery pack will ensure low diesel consumption. The PSV will be delivered to the Canadian shipping company Atlantic Towing.

The work at the Norwegian shipyard Kleven Verft starts in February with delivery to the customer during the summer 2020.

The shipyard Kleven Verft in Ulsteinvik, Norway, has roots back to 1944 and has over several decades build large, advanced vessels within several segments. The shipyard has efficient facilities for early equipment and bedding, and it is the shipyard in Norway that has the greatest degree of proprietary robotic steel production and modular shipbuilding. Kleven Verft currently employs approx. 200 employees in addition to approx. 250 employees in its subsidiary Kleven Maritime Contracting. Kleven Verft is ISO certified in environment and quality.
