Philips harmonizes its sales operations in the Nordic countries by establishing a direct sales organization for Imaging Systems in Finland

·  In order to harmonize its sales operations in the Nordic countries, Philips establishes a direct Philips Imaging Systems sales organization in Finland effective April 1, 2014.

·  This step it taken to further strengthen the Nordic organization and to offer a more seamless flow of information directly from the manufacturer to the customers and the other way around 

Helsinki, Finland – Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA) and Mediq, an international provider of medical devices, pharmaceuticals and the associated care, today announced that Philips will establish a direct sales organization for Imaging Systems in Finland. Until now, sales of Philips Imaging Systems in Finland have been managed by Mediq. This change will take effect April 1, 2014 and until then, the Mediq sales organization will continue to sell Philips Imaging Systems and serve customers as before.

The objective of this change in the sales channel is to offer a more seamless flow of information directly from manufacturer to customers and vice versa. Mediq continues to provide the technical customer support for maintenance and repair of Philips Imaging Systems. Concerning open tenders and orders, Mediq will be in communication with each of the customers individually.

Investment shows commitment

“This investment further underlines Philips Healthcare’s commitment to the Finnish market, where Philips Healthcare since the year 2000 has had a Finnish office,” says Karen Sorensen, CEO Philips Nordic. “Today, we have 23 employees working with PCMS (Patient Care and Monitoring Solutions), home healthcare products and ultrasound systems in Finland. Furthermore, Philips also has a MRI manufacturing and research site outside Helsinki employing 103 people,” Karen Sorensen continues.

Including the areas of Consumer Lifestyle and Lighting, Philips has more than 200 dedicated employees in Finland.

Philips Imaging Systems

This Philips Imaging Systems business consists of X-ray, Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance (MR) Imaging, Nuclear Medicine imaging equipment and ultrasound, used to create images of various parts of the body in varied detail. Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to produce 2 and 3 dimensional images of the organs and structures of the body. General imaging, cardiology and portable systems make up Philips’ ultrasound range of products.
