Norsk vinner annonsert - National Awards 2021

World Photography Organisation og Sony Nordic er stolte over å kunngjøre at Emil Wieringa Hildebrand er vinner av Norway National Award i Sony World Photography Awards 2021.

National Awards er et initiativ av World Photography Organisation og Sony for å støtte lokale fotomiljøer over hele verden, hvor det i år er 53 land som deltar.

Over 330 000 bilder fra 220 ulike territorier ble sendt til Sony World Photography Awards 2021, og over 165 000 deltok i Open (hvor vinneren av National Awards blir utvalgt).

Emil Wieringa Hildebrand valgt anonymt av dommerne for bildet “Øydis and Gunnar”, fra kategorien Creative i Open-konkurransen.

Bildeforklaring

Siste bildet fra en privat fotografering i oktober. Året 2020 føltes som om vi alle dunket hodet mot en stor vegg sammen.

Om fotografen

22 år gammel og studerer statsvitenskap, og en analog fotograf basert i kalde Trondheim. Arbeidet mitt fokuserer på litt «off-kilter» portretter av modeller, artister og andre kreative – det jeg for meg selv i hemmelighet har gitt merkelappen «silent abdsurdism». Det ultimate målet er få folk til å tenke «huh» og smile etter å se bilde jeg har laget. Min favoritt del av prosessen er å komme inn med et strengt sett med ideer og forveninger, og dra igjen med noe helt annet.

– Jeg så virkelig ikke denne prisen komme, så jeg endte opp med å forlate en forelesning bare for å sitte og smile litt. Jeg er overrasket og veldig takknemlig, og vil rose de to fantastiske modellene Øydis og Gunnar, sier Hildebrand.

Som Norges National Award-vinner vil Emil Wieringa Hildebrand motta digitalt fotoutstyr fra Sony.

The Sony World Photography Awards 2021 competitions include:

• Professional competition - Judged anonymously on a body of work. 10 categories to enter, including a newly introduced ‘Environment’ category.
• Open competition - Judged anonymously on a single image. 10 categories to enter.
• Youth competition -Judged anonymously on a single image responding to monthly themes, for photographers aged 12-19.
• Student competition - For academic institutions, a body of work responding to one brief on the theme of ‘Invisible Lines’. Shortlisted photographers then submit a series of images responding to a second brief.
• National Awards - All images entered into the Open competition are automatically considered for the National & Regional Awards programme which celebrates local photographic talent in more than 50 countries and is judged anonymously upon a single image.
