Swedish artist Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd, created the knotted gun "Non-Violence" after his friend John Lennon was shot in New York 1980.
One of Sweden's internationally most famous artists Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd (1934-2016) created the well known symbol the knotted gun "Non-Violence", after his friend John Lennon was shot in New York 1980. The symbol is since 1993 used by the foundation The Non-Violence Project Foundation (NVPF).
The knotted gun sculpture is placed outside the United Nations Head Quarters in New York and in over 30 strategic places around the world. October 2nd is the International Non-Violence Day and 2018 it's also the 30th anniversary for when the sculpture was placed outside the UN Head quarters in New York.
NVPF's Peace Ambassadors, such as Sir Paul McCartney and Yoko Ono and other influential persons, have designed and named their own version of the knotted gun sculpture.
NVPF has up till now educated over 8 million young people, teachers and sport coaches on five contents in how to solve conflicts peacefully.
