New Peace and Non-Violence Ambassador Appointed

On September 25, Nicolás Lapentti was appointed the first-ever global Peace and Non-Violence Ambassador from Ecuador.

Nicolás Lapentti is a retired Ecuadorian professional tennis player, born on August 13, 1976. He reached a career-high ATP singles ranking of No. 6 in 1999 and is known for his strong baseline game and resilience on court. Lapentti won five ATP singles titles and played a key role in Ecuador’s Davis Cup successes.

Lapentti established the Nicolás Lapentti Foundation in late 2000 to help bring tennis to underprivileged communities and develop future champions.
