Novus Scientific Announces New U.S. Patent for Mesh Implant with an Interlocking Knitted Structure; TIGR® Matrix Surgical Mesh – US 8,016,841
The patent relates to a resorbable polymeric mesh implant with an interlocking knitted structure comprising two or more sets of fibers with different times of degradation, allowing a stepwise increase in the relative distension of the overall mesh over time, intended to be used in the reconstruction of soft tissue defects where weakness exists.

Its unique patented dual-fiber construction is designed for gradually increasing mechanical compliance, making it strong for 6 months and gone in 3 years. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave the company 510(k) clearance to market TIGR® Matrix Surgical Mesh in February 2010. In August 2011 Novus Scientific received CE Mark approval from BSI for TIGR® Matrix Surgical Mesh in Europe.
