Press release -

Nysnø invests in climate technology company Ducky

Stavanger 11.05.22 - The Norwegian climate technology company Ducky develops digital tools to help consumers, businesses and the public sector to reduce their climate footprint. Now they are raising capital from an investment consortium consisting of Nysnø Climate Investments, T.D. Veen, Katapult Accelerator, Hafslund Ny Energi and the EQT Foundation, as well as existing investors.

Today, our consumption accounts for over two-thirds of global greenhouse gas emissions. To achieve our climate goals, the world's consumption pattern must change in a more sustainable direction. Ducky's technology quantifies emissions, and their applications give users insight into the climate impact of their own consumption.

“Quantification of climate footprint is a field Nysnø has followed over time. We believe that the future will be characterized by knowledge-based climate-friendly choices. At Nysnø, our mission is to make profitable investments in companies that will accelerate the green transition, and we believe Ducky is well positioned to both deliver good profitability and help reduce emissions”, says Guro Skjæveland, Senior Associate at Nysnø Climate Investments.

According to a recent survey, as many as 7 out of 10 Norwegians state that they are willing to change their consumption due to climate change. Ducky's digital solutions will make it easier for users to get an overview of and change their consumption pattern to reduce emissions.

“Today we have good information about the nutritional content of foods. It enables us to make good, fact-based dietary choices. In the same way, we must build knowledge about the climate footprint of the products we buy in order to make better choices for the planet”, says Skjæveland.

The company has developed three products aimed at business, the public sector and consumers. Ducky Championship engages individual consumers to live more sustainably, Ducky Public gives counties and municipalities an overview of the inhabitants' climate footprint, and Ducky Data gives the business community the opportunity to tailor green solutions and include climate data in their own applications.

“We are noticing an exciting change of pace”, says co-founder and sustainability expert in Ducky, Mads Simonsen. “It is obvious that we cannot solve the climate crisis without commitment and cooperation between public actors, private business and citizens. With leading partners in banking, energy, counties, municipalities - and not least with leading impact investors - we will contribute to national and international change at a faster pace moving forward. This is incredibly exciting.”

The Trondheim-based company has already established a customer base in Norway, and is preparing for international expansion. Now they are raising capital from an investment consortium consisting of Nysnø Climate Investments, T.D. Veen, Katapult Accelerator, Hafslund Ny Energi and the EQT Foundation, as well as existing investors. In total, they invest just over NOK 30 million in the climate technology company.
