Obton, Rabobank agree on EU 30,2 M refinancing of operative PV-portfolio in Belgium

In late December 2016, Obton and Dutch multinational bank Rabobank finalized the refinancing of an operational PV-portfolio of 40 rooftops to a total capacity of 12,85 MWp. Early 2016, the Belgian PV-plants were acquired and added to Obtons portfolio of renewable energy assets with a total of 250 MWp.

The 40 rooftop plants are primarily located on industrial premises in the regions of East and West Flanders, which are some of the most advantageous areas of Belgium in regard to solar irradiation. The PV-plants are expected to produce around 12.000.000 kWh p.a. and will cover the yearly electricity demand of approximately 3.000 Belgian households.

PROFESSIONAL AND EFFECTIVE COLLABORATION

Mikkel Berthelsen, Chief Legal Officer at Obton welcomes the collaboration and clarifies:

“The collaboration with Rabobank has been intense and highly effective, once the negotiations were initiated. We were very impressed by the dedication and professionalism displayed by the team at Rabobank. "

Twan Geurts, Global Head Project and Export Finance at Rabobank adds:

“We are looking forward to continue this successful collaboration and by doing so facilitate Obton achieving their ambitious goals and simultaneously contribute to the renewable energy transition in Europe.”

Obton has been involved in PV-investments in Belgium since 2013 and continues to explore the opportunities within renewable energy that Belgium and the rest of the Benelux countries offer – if possible with Rabobank by its side.
