Press release -
Swedish restaurant chain opens the 100th restaurant in Istanbul
March 25th is a memorable date for O’Learys when the Swedish restaurant chain officially opens its 100th restaurant in Istanbul, Turkey. It all began 1988 with a sportsbar in Gothenburg. The concept has since then grown in Scandinavia, Europe, Middle East and Asia. The 100th restaurant opens in the area of Atasehir, Istanbul.
O’Learys continues an extensive expansion and now reaches 100 restaurants - a milestone for the Swedish-owned franchise operator O’Learys Trademark. O’Learys’ concept consists of the passion for sports, people, food and beverage. The influences from Boston are visible in the design and the atmosphere as well as the menu.
- O’Learys is the fourth fastest growing restaurant company in Europe and to reach one hundred restaurants feels fantastic. We are proud that this milestone occurs outside of Sweden and in Turkey since the local sports fans really have been looking forward to the O’Learys concept, says Wilhelm Vintilescu, CEO O’Learys Trademark.
The Grand Opening ceremony March 25th takes place in the presence of the Swedish Consul-General Jens Odlander as well as a number of well-known profiles from the Turkish league in football and basketball. The 100th O’Learys restaurant is located in a large mall with restaurants and cafeterias in the area of Atasehir. The restaurant has 19 screens to follow games and sports events. In addition to the restaurant's 114 seats there will be an outdoor terrace opening later this spring, where guests can also take advantage of O’Learys’ variety of food, drinks and sports.
The financial growth in Turkey contributes to the growth of Istanbul and just a few hundred meters from O’Learys, one of Europe's largest financial district will be built. Nearby is also the national arena for basketball and volleyball, where many international artists also will perform. In Turkey there is a big interest in sports as well as a genuine interest in food. O’Learys’ passion for sports, people, food and beverage suits this culture and O’Learys hopes to open more restaurants in the country.
