PEMA and FEPORT sign Memorandum of Understanding

Mr. Ottonel Popesco, President of the Board of PEMA, and Mr. Gunther Bonz, President of FEPORT, have today signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

PEMA, representing global port equipment and technology sectors, including crane, equipment and component manufacturers, automation, software and technology providers, consultants and other experts; and FEPORT, the Federation of European Private Port Operators Association, representing the interests of the terminal operators and stevedoring companies performing operations and carrying out activities in the seaports of the European Union and Turkey, have decided to formalise the strengthening of their co-operation through the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The purpose of this MoU is to create the framework for co-operation that will enable PEMA and FEPORT to benefit from the common activities in their respective strategies. This will further mutual understanding, and, where areas of joint interest have been identified, close co-ordination between the Parties.

PEMA and FEPORT have agreed to establish a program of co-operation which will include agreed actions and initiatives, (meetings, sharing and exchange of information, ad hoc task forces etc.), to enhance their respective impact on issues and topics where both organizations have common interest.

“Our mission is to provide a forum and public voice for the global port equipment and technology sectors, reflecting their critical role in enabling safe, secure, sustainable and productive ports and thereby supporting world maritime trade,” commented Mr Ottonel Popesco, President of the Board of PEMA and CEO of Cavotec SA.

“By entering into this cooperation with FEPORT, we will be able to better serve our respective members and the industry as a whole”, he continued.

"The port sector is facing important challenges which will require port stakeholders to mobilise all kinds of resources HR, R&D and financial to adapt and also prepare the future. Within FEPORT, we think that a close co-operation with PEMA will allow to better respond to the market's expectations and to identify the major areas which require innovation," said Mr Gunther Bonz, President of FEPORT.

"We are glad to start to join forces with PEMA for the benefit of the ports industry.”
