PEMA returns to Amsterdam for its 2019 Annual General Meeting

PEMA hosted its 2019 Annual General Meeting at the Steigenberger Airport Hotel in Amsterdam. This year’s event was kindly sponsored by industrial group FIMER. More than 130 delegates from 110-member companies attended the event.

The three-day event had a busy programme comprising of a networking reception, a formal AGM, two discussion panels, and several working meetings.

Ottonel Popesco, a FIMER director, was re-elected President and Chairman of the PEMA Board, and Huang Qingfeng, President of ZPMC Group, was elected as a new Board Member. The Association also formally welcomed four companies as new members: Faber, Marine Fields, Sensy and Teufelberger taking the number of members to 110.

Two speakers’ panels facilitated an open discussion between members and invited speakers on key challenges facing the global ports industry. Speakers included: Lamia Kerdjoudj-Belkaid, Secretary General of FEPORT, Sotiris Raptis, Senior Policy Advisor for Environment and Safety at ESPO, Prof Mikael Lind from Research Institutes of Sweden, RISE Viktoria, Jan Cuppens, Director of Global Engineering, Global Operations & Engineering at DP World, Alexandru Duca, Director, Head of Automation, at APM Terminals, and Boris Wenzel, Managing Director of Terminal Link.

“The AGM serves not only as an opportunity to reflect on the previous years’ achievements but compels us to look forward, allowing PEMA to continue to engage with its members and key industry stakeholders by providing a unique forum for an open public dialogue on topics shaping the future of our industry,” said Popesco.
