A Student's Entry: BagoSphere Family Day
BagoSphere Family Day
written by Ma. Divina Grace Ricamie Sanchez & Angelyn Genisan
BagoSphere family day was held on August 16, 2011 at our dormitory. The program was organized by students and teachers from BagoSphere. The program was organized because the trainees wanted to showcase talents and display what we have learnt to our family.
We started the program with a prayer and by singing the National Anthem of the Philippines. The emcees of the program were Bregsein Caunga and Katherine Perez. Second, were the opening remarks from one of our trainer Ivan Lau who talked and discussed about the training. Next, Angelyn Genisan, one of the trainees, talked about our experiences undergoing the training. After Angelyn’s speech, some of us performed a burglary scene which I think was very funny. The performers were Melvin Baterna, Katherine Perez, Joseph Mariano, Christine Colango, Shenny Pearl Tomaro, John Mark Rico and Romeo Abindan. After the performance, another speech was given by Romeo Abindan who talked about what has been taught to us by our mentors. Next was the verse choir entitled “Mambo Jambo” which was performed by Ramon Murillo, Ma. Divina Grace Ricamie Sanchez, Joseph Mariano, Elvie Cabigon, Jecelyn Lobrido, John Mark Rico, Shenny Pearl Tomaro, Myren Lapatan and Christine Colango.
We practiced for our performances only just a week before the program. After the verse choir, Melvin Baterna gave another speech about the things we have learnt from this training. The speech was heart-warming especially at the part where he thanked our mentors for everything that they have done for us. After Melvin’s touching speech, We did our last intermission number which was the singing of the song “Thanks to you” for our family. That made some of us cry. We expressed our happiness for being a part of BagoSphere and knowing that our families were very proud of us.
Ellwyn Tan, one of our trainer and Ivan Lau gave their respective speeches for the final remarks of the program. Some of our parents wanted to see Zhihan Lee, one of our trainers and founder of Bagosphere but he’s in Singapore for some business. After the heart-warming speeches, activities, and intermission numbers, we finally had our lunch together with our parents, teachers, and co-trainees. We happily ate our lunch. We also took some pictures with Ivan and Ellwyn and the rest of the teachers. Our family had a great time too!
An hour later, Ivan decided to let everyone visit the center. This is where we hold our classes everyday. We excitedly brought our family to the center and let them see our videos. One video was about an activity called picture description evaluation which was recorded on the 4th of July. Our parents really enjoyed watching the videos. The video also showed how much we have improved over the past month.
It’s been a tiring day but still we conquered our tiredness for the program to be successful. I can see the smiles on each person’s face as they leave the center. Our parents must have been very proud of us.
