Planmeca dental unit FAQ – Functional, durable and beautifully designed

Planmeca’s aim is to create functional, durable and beautifully designed dental units that stand the test of time. We do this by always keeping our four design principles in mind: ergonomic workflow, patient and staff safety, patient comfort, and long lasting aesthetics. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about Planmeca dental units.

Q: How many automatic chair positions can you store to Planmeca dental units?
A: You can store up to four treatment positions and one rinsing position for every user of the unit. Planmeca Compact™ i Touch units allow four different user profiles to be saved, while Planmeca Sovereign® Classic units allow 32 profiles. If the dental units are connected to the Planmeca Romexis® Clinic Management software, there can be an unlimited number of user profiles per unit!

Q: How durable is the Ultra Relax upholstery used in Planmeca dental units?
A: The material of the Ultra Relax™ upholstery is extremely durable (exceeding 400 000 double rubs in the Wyzenbeek test and 180 000 rubs in the Martindale test). It’s also extremely cut resistant. However, it is good to keep in mind that sharp objects, such as needles and sharp rivets, might damage the upholstery. You can clean the Ultra Relax upholstery with alcohol-based products. 

Q: How much space do Planmeca dental units require?
A: All Planmeca dental units are very compact and do not require much floor space. For Planmeca Compact i units, the minimum space requirements are 2200 mm (height) x 2780 mm (depth) x 1790 mm (width). For Planmeca Sovereign Classic units, the minimum space requirements (allowing both right- and left-handed use) are 2200 mm (height) x 2780 mm (depth) x 2780 mm (width).

Q: How often do you need to recharge the battery of the unit’s wireless foot control?
A: Usually the foot control requires recharging once a week or once every two weeks, depending on how much you use it. You can easily follow the battery charge level of the foot control from the control panel of the dental unit.

Q: Is it possible to integrate a micromotor for endodontic treatments into the units?
A: Yes, the Bien-Air MX2 and Planmeca Minendo™ micromotors feature torque and RPM (Revolutions Per Minute) controls. If the torque limit is enabled, it is possible to select action (drive mode) when the set limit is reached. The selected action can be auto-reverse, auto-forward or stop. You can save presets for torque and RPM controls, as well as for other instrument settings for each individual using the unit.
