Discussion from a professional driver's perspective

On the 23rd of January, the Port of Helsinki held a discussion event for professional drivers and carrier representatives at the Vuosaari harbour. Participants also included representatives from harbour operators, Finnish customs, the police and Finnish Transport and Logistics SKAL. The rooms reserved for the event were filled out with a total of 50 attendees.

The Port of Helsinki’s Traffic Manager told participants about the development of the harbour from the perspective of heavy traffic, while the Finnish Customs’ representative Ari Peltonen discussed the customs’ operations at the Vuosaari harbour. A representative from the SKAL International Road Carriers of Finland also relayed some thoughts from the organisation’s members. Discussion at the event proved lively and many participants took the chance to speak.

The event brought together several different Port of Helsinki operators and was deemed a big success, giving attendees a good idea of the issues that professional drivers who use the Vuosaari Harbour are interested in. In accordance with the participants’ wishes, the event will become an annual tradition.
