Cargo traffic at the Port of Helsinki remains slow

The amount of unitised cargo traffic was 850,000 tons in May, down 5% on last year’s level. Imports amounted to 411,000 tons, which represents a 9% decline compared to the comparative period. Exports amounted to 440,000 tons, which is 1% less than in the same period last year.

The amount of cargo traffic between January and May was 4 million tons, which represents a decline of 5% compared to the same period last year. The amount of traffic was divided evenly between imports and exports. Imports were down 9% and exports 1% compared to the same period last year.

The development of cargo traffic at the Port of Helsinki has been in keeping with the average development of the other harbours in Finland.

The number of passengers in May was 960,000, which represents a 2% increase compared to May last year. The number of passengers between January and May was 3.9 million, approximately the same number as last year. The slow development during the first half of the year is due to some of the ships being out of service due to docking.
