Electronic Passport Control to the West Terminal

The West Terminal will become the first maritime border crossing point in Europe to have electronic passport control devices. The Finnish Border Guard will acquire three automatic border control devices to the West Terminal of the Port of Helsinki in spring 2012. 

The devices can be used by citizens of EU member states, the European Economic Area and Switzerland who have biometric passports. The Finnish Border Guard has been using automatic border control devices at Helsinki Airport since 2008.
