Qatar Airways Launches New Doha-Chicago Route

Qatar Airways’ inaugural flight from Doha, Qatar, to Chicago touched down at O'Hare International Airport April 10, establishing the airline's fourth U.S. gateway. The service will travel between Doha and Chicago three times a week. Chicago is the airline’s 126th destination.The three flights a week to Chicago bring the total number of Qatar passenger flights to the US to 24 a week. On June 15 the Chicago-Doha route will become a daily service. The airline also operates a twice-weekly cargo service between the two cities, launched in August 2010.The route can be used as a connection between Chicago and a number of international destinations in the Middle East, Africa, India and Asia/Pacific via Doha. Qatar Airways' Doha – Chicago route will be served with a Boeing 777-300 Extended Range aircraft in a two-class configuration of 293 seats in Economy Class and 42 in Business Class. The aircraft has seatback TV screens in both cabins with more than 1,000 audio and video-on-demand options.Qatar Airways has been in operation for 16 years and operates a fleet of 122 aircraft to 126 key business and leisure destinations worldwide. The airline also plans to inaugurate new routes this year to Salalah, Oman (May 22); Basra, Iraq (June 3), Sulaymaniyah, Iraq (August 20) and Chengdu, China, at a date to be announced.
