The Edge Property newspaper: RM1.1 billion plan for education and medical hub in Ipoh

Wawasan Qi Properties Group (Qi Properties) hopes to launch Qi City, an educational and medical hub in Ipoh, Perak with a gross development value of RM1.1 billion, in the second quarter of the year.

“Our aim is to create a university town. We want to turn Perak into an educational hub and we want to set the standard for it,” Qi Properties founder and executive chairman Datuk Seri Vijay Eswaran Vijayaratnam told City & Country.

The 26-acre Qi City will comprise three condominium blocks, a serviced suite tower with a mall on the ground floor, six storeys of staff quarters, a hospital with 840 beds and the Quest International University Perak (QIUP) campus.

The 8.02-acre QIUP will have facilities such as a sports complex, central park and 1,055 parking bays.

The university will be able to accommodate up to 8,000 students, 1,000 staff members and an additional 1,000 hospital employees.

Meanwhile, the 25-storey condominium blocks, including two levels of parking, will occupy 7.35 acres and offer 768 units for sale.

Their built-ups range from 780 to 1,338 sq ft while the 18 penthouses are 1,800 sq ft.

The developer says that at a tentative price of RM460 psf to RM660 psf, or RM358,800 to RM615,480 each, the units are competitively priced in the Ipoh market.

The 1.6-acre mall will feature 120 retail outlets and a multi-purpose hall that will double as a convention centre.

The 29-storey serviced suites tower offers 276 serviced suites with built-ups of 688 sq ft, and 888 sq ft each.

The 26-acre integrated development is tentatively scheduled for launch in the second quarter of the year. – The Edge Property, February 7, 2016.
