Quest International University Perak holds inaugural convocation

PRESS RELEASE: Quest International University Perak (QIUP), under the umbrella of global conglomerate QI Group, held its maiden convocation ceremony on 22nd November in Ipoh, awarding degrees to twenty one students, from the very first intake of the schools of Computer Science and Business Administration.

Another 40 students received their certificates for completing their Foundation studies in Science and Business.

The graduating students received their scroll from the Chairman of the University Council, Dato Sri Dr. Vijay Eswaran who also presented the outstanding scholastic achievement award to Kanahavali, who was announced as the Valedictorian for this convocation.

In his speech, Dr. Vijay Eswaran said Convocation is a milestone for a university as it reflects the achievements of the students, tutors, lecturers and the founders of the university, adding that education remains the driving engine for growth and the social development of the country.

“I am delighted to note here that QIUP in partnership with the State Government of Perak, is recognized today as providing a gold standard education model. The twenty one students who are graduating with their degree have all found employment with reputable companies.

“QIUP’s rapid growth over the last four years has been nothing short of extraordinary and this undoubtedly is credited to an excellent team that is dedicated and that has capitalized on an industry niche,” noted Dr. Vijay Eswaran.

He also disclosed that QIUP’s City Campus would soon take shape as part of the QI City Development in Bandar Meru Raya near here. The RM1.2 billion development would among others consist of QIUP, a training hospital with public and private wings as well as three blocks of condominiums. The project will start in the first quarter of next year and expected to be completed within 36 months.

QIUP opened for its first intake in September 2011 with 4 programs, namely Bachelor of Computer Science, Bachelor of Business Administration, and Foundation in Science and Foundation in Business. Today, the University offers more than 26 programs in Foundation, Diploma, Bachelor and Post Graduate with the student population increasing to more than a thousand.

“We have grown from an initial batch of 98 students in 2011 to where we are today – 1200 students and we are reaching out to many students, especially from the north of Peninsular Malaysia as well as other parts of Malaysia including Sabah and Sarawak.

“We are also living up to our international reputation as we have students from 13 countries enrolled in various courses at QIUP. We have been recognized as a leading institution of higher learning in this part of the world – offering a full range of undergraduate majors, plus master's and doctoral programs,” noted Dr. Vijay Eswaran.

The convocation was attended by 400 people made up of QIUP Council members, faculty members, senior state government officials and students as well as their families.

There are three Faculties and two centres at QIUP – Centre for Foundation Studies, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Integrative Sciences & Technology, Faculty of Business Management & Social Sciences and Centre for Graduate Studies and Research and offers programs at Foundation, Diploma, Degree and Postgraduate levels.
