Adopting energy-saving habits and technologies is key to a more sustainable future – for our planet and generations to come. With the Smart Start feature, Bosch enables users to optimize their energy consumption when doing laundry or washing dishes. Smart Start automatically selects the optimal start time for connected Bosch appliances, based on the user’s energy and time preferences[1].
Smart energy consumption made easy
Smart Start maximizes the use of available green energy by scheduling the appliance’s operation during peak availability times. This helps reduce the carbon footprint and supports the transition to a more sustainable energy grid. For users with a peak/off-peak tariff or their own photovoltaic system, Smart Start automatically selects the time when the electricity is cheapest – such as at night, during periods of high renewable energy availability or peak production times of self-generated solar electricity. This allows users to enjoy lower energy bills without compromising on performance or results.
Setup, ready, go
With just a few settings, users can ensure that their appliances are optimally scheduled to run at the best times – without monitoring energy rates. All they have to do is connect their dishwasher, dryer or washing machine to the Bosch Home Connect App and enter their energy and time preferences. Smart Start then automatically selects the most eco-friendly and/or cost-effective times for the appliances to run.
Smart Start is available for all Home Connect-enabled washing machines, dryers and dishwashers via the Bosch Home Connect App. The set-up is done directly in the Home Connect App. For washing machines and dryers, Smart Start can then be used with programs that are started via the app. For dishwashers, the time selected through Smart Start is automatically transferred to the appliance and can thus be used when starting a program directly on the vast majority of appliances.
[1] Smart Start can be used only if the appliance is connected to a Bosch Home Connect Account and a SingleKey ID account via the Internet. Home Connect is a service of Home Connect GmbH. More information on www.homeconnect.com.
