Press release -

A new star in space - the first Swedish and Nordic investment company for space technology is born.

A new star in space - the first Swedish and Nordic investment company for space technology. Rymdkapital is a Swedish investment company with the vision to propel a sustainable and multi-faceted space ecosystem. A group of experts in space technology and venture capital are the founders of the company.

- We are passionate about developments in space technologies. There are a lot of entrepreneurs here, but also a lack of capital and industrial links. In Sweden and the Nordic countries, we have world-leading technology and know-how, but we need more interested investors who can embark on new projects, says Ted Elvhage, European Spacetech investor and Managing Partner at Rymdkapital.

The team behind Rymdkapital started in 2020 with investments in the US-Swedish rocket launcher venture Pythom Inc and the Swedish investment company Space Cowboys AB.

First Nordic spacetech fund

Rymdkapital is launching the first Nordic dedicated Spacetech fund, an Angel to Seed venture capital fund in Sweden to fund European spacetech companies that leverage the VC funds support from the space industry with the teams 30 years of experience from the space industry in addition to 30 years of Nordic and US angel investing.

The investment firm will support founders in strategic decisions, faster recruitment of top talent, faster time to market by connecting to ventures with the industry, and support in next stage funding through its wide EU/US network of co-investors, ie world class support to go from Angel to A-round faster and with less risk.

There are successful incubators for start-up companies and the Swedish National Space Agency has a list of more than 40 companies and the challenge is to expand the financial eco-system for the Nordic region in the ongoing commercialization of space-related technologies,

- Space is the next frontier for long-term exceptional value creation, and it is a perfect fit for the VC-model, says Ted Elvhage.

The company has already begun to invest in new ventures, the next step is to engage larger players for the build-up of a fund that can accelerate the commercialization of the space industry.

    - It is also important that we get in touch with a wider group of people. That is why we are eager to contribute to the popular science podcast “Have we gone to Mars yet?”. I hope we can educate both entrepreneurs and investors in understanding the emerging newspace, says Ted Elvhage.

Ted Elvhage has over 20 years of investor experience in early stage and scale-up companies in Sweden, Norway, USA and Taiwan, and has a solid network in Europe and Silicon Valley.

His portfolio includes over 45 companies ranging from hi-tech and life sciences, to real estate and restaurants. In addition, Ted is co-founder of Stockholm Business Angels and sits on numerous boards: E14 Invest, Keiretsu Forum Nordic, Gradientech, and Fingerprint Cards.

Have we gone to Mars yet? is a Swedish popular science podcast produced by Susanna Lewenhaupt and Marcus Pettersson. Driven by curiosity they meet people in the space industry to learn about the technology and challenges to make mankind able to explore and benefit from space.
