Sculptural design for the table – Sagaform expands the Gurken collection with three new carafes
Sculptural shapes, playful proportions and thoughtful functionality. With Gurken, Sagaform gives everyday functional objects a distinctive design expression. Now the collection expands with three new carafes in crystal glass and certified beech wood, designed by award-winning Swedish designer Daniel Enoksson.
Gurken began with salt and pepper mills in certified beech wood, where a distinctive conical silhouette gave the classic mill an unexpected, almost sculptural character. Daniel Enoksson, a graduate of Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm, has an artistic background spanning sculpture, painting and photography.
The new carafes reinterpret Gurken’s distinctive silhouette in glass. The transparency of crystal glass meets details in certified beech wood, creating a clear connection to the original mills. At the same time, the contents become part of the design, changing the expression of each carafe depending on what it holds.
– Gurken has a strong design language that gave us something interesting to build on. For me, it has been exciting to explore how the same character can take shape in new products without simply repeating the original form, says Daniel Enoksson.
Behind the sculptural expression is a strong focus on functionality. Grip, balance and the feeling of pouring have all been central to the development of the carafes.
– For me, it is about starting with function and allowing the form to grow from there. It needs to work as a carafe first, while still having something about it that makes you want to leave it on display, says Daniel.

Daniel Enoksson is an award-winning Swedish designer and a graduate of Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm. With an artistic background in sculpture, painting and photography, his work moves between art and design, with a particular focus on proportions, materials, function and tactility.
