Anjis, the "tribal chief" of Salli, nominated for Made by Finland award

The Made by Finland campaign is a shared campaign between the Association for Finnish Work, its members and partner organizations. It calls for all Finns to discuss their own work and to share their stories of Finnish work. The story of Anjis is one of the nominees for the Made by Finland award.

Salli Systems is the leading developer of sitting health. Since 1990 Salli Saddle Chairs have been designed to promote sitting health. Sales Manager Anja-Riitta “Anjis” Saarinen has had a long career at Salli and she knows basically everything worth knowing about the company.

When new employees, or sometimes also some of the veterans, face a problem they cannot solve Anjis is always ready to help. Colleagues describe her as being productive, helpful, energetic, suitably strict, sweet and having a great sense of humour.

Anjis faces all challenges without fear, and is well respected for always being on the customer’s side. Every customer gets first-class service that is precise and perfect. Anjis keeps her word to customers and colleagues alike, and never lets anybody down. Colleagues say that she “doesn’t play games” but is honest and plainspoken. If Anjis promises something you can really count on that. And she never promises something she is not certain she can keep.

It is also common knowledge that when old information, maybe going back as much as ten years, about a customer or some other thing is needed, Anjis will quickly find the info in her archives. Anjis is a master of saving information and her files almost always provide the answer.

Anjis always seems ready to face challenges. Colleagues have also noticed that she likes to start the working day early in the morning. It may be the one moment of the day she can take care of things in peace.

This iron lady is being thanked for never losing her temper and for the ability to tell the same things over and over again, as many times as needed. She is also open for trying new things. One of her colleagues says that maybe stressfull work requires also rather drastic measures to balance things:
- After one especially hard week Anjis told me that it’s going to better now that the weekend starts and she can go and shoot beavers!

A word of explanation: one of the hobbies of the Salli tribal chief is to go hunting with her dachshunds.
