The world’s fastest shoe on ice
A lightweight winter running shoe with 13 virtually indestructible studs. One large ice rink and a professional athlete. Those were the conditions when Salming provided the ultimate test for the award winning iSpike model. The track on the ice measured 100 meters and Isak Andersson, a Salming ambassador and three-times Swedish champion on 400 meters hurdles, was up for the challenge. How fast would he be able to run?
After a few attempts on the icy track, Isak found the perfect running technique and crossed the finish line in 13.16 seconds. The Salming team have not found any evidence that anyone has ever run faster on 100 meters wet ice.
– We know that our shoe is optimized for winter running, but we decided to stretch the limits as far as possible. The speed and the finish time on the rink really proves that iSpike offers great performance and exceptional ground control on ice, says Marcus Waltilla, marketing manager at Salming.
– It was a challenging experience, but I could really trust the shoes, even at full speed on the ice, says Isak Andersson.
