The route of the lighting trail for the 2019 edition has been finalized and will run through Nolhaga. This is a route popular with both visitors and Alingsås residents alike. The last time it was used was in 2014 when the theme was “Peer Gynt.” This year's theme is "Be the Light," and is about how we can all help make the world a brighter place for our fellow men and women.

Here we go again! Just in time for the 400th anniversary of the Swedish town Alingsås, it’s time for the 20th annual light event, Lights in Alingsås. This year’s theme is “Be the light”, and is intended to inspire visitors to become ambassadors of light and make the world a little brighter for the people around them.
Nu blir det fest! Lagom till att Alingsås fyller 400 år är det även dags för ljusevenemanget Lights in Alingsås att arrangeras för 20:e gången . Och precis som i fjol är det Alingsås Energi som står bakom. Temat i år är ”Be the light”, och är tänkt att inspirera alla besökare att på sina egna små och stora sätt bli ljusspridare för sin omgivning.
Last weekend a group of lighting designers gathered to start working on the twentieth annual Lights in Alingsås festival, which takes place this autumn in Sweden. This year’s chosen designers are a mix of previous students, old Workshop Heads and a couple of newcomers to the event.
I helgen samlades ett gäng ljusdesigners i Alingsås för att påbörja arbetet inför hösten och tjugonde upplagan av evenemanget. Årets utvalda designers är en blandning av tidigare studenter, gamla workshopledare och ett par helt nya profiler.
Lights in Alingsås arrangeras för 20:e gången under 2019 och aldrig tidigare har så många personer ansökt om att få komma till Alingsås för en veckas workshop! Ett 50-tal ansökningar skickades in till Alingsås Energi och 10 personer har i år blivit utvalda till att leda det gedigna arbetet. Under Lights in Alingsås har fem caféer fått en ny generation kaffekvarn installerad med syftet att bidra till en bättre miljö.
Under Lights in Alingsås visas "Synvillor" på Alingsås museum. En utställning om hur ljus kan uppfattas av vår hjärna och ge synintryck som inte stämmer med verkligheten.
One attended the 2003 Lights in Alingsås festival as a student, the other was there in 2015. But now Mette Hvass is a teacher at prestigious Aalborg University in Copenhagen, while Tina Wikström is a student there. After almost twenty years of Lights festivals, you can find former participants everywhere.
En var med som student på Lights in Alingsås 2003. En 2015. Nu är Mette Hvass lärare och Tina Wikström elev vid ansedda Aalborg university i Köpenhamn. Efter snart 20 år som evenemang finns de gamla lightsarna att hitta överallt. – Vem vet, vi kanske gör gemensam sak som workshopheads om något år säger de och ler brett.
