FrostGreen receives the 2026 ACT Ecolabel Innovation Award from My Green Lab
The recognition highlights FrostGreen's work to reduce reliance on fossil-based plastics in lab waste disposal.
30 September 2026, Stockholm - FrostGreen has been named the winner of the 2026 ACT Ecolabel Innovation Award by My Green Lab. The ACT Ecolabel for lab equipment, consumables, and reagents provides transparent, third-party verified sustainability data.
The award recognizes lab products engaged with the ACT Ecolabel Program that uniquely advance environmental progress.
For FrostGreen, the award is an important milestone, recognizing our focus on reducing reliance on conventional fossil-based plastics and using verified data to guide decisions and actions.
“Winning the ACT Ecolabel Innovation Award is a proud moment for our whole team,” says Johan Sauer, CEO of FrostGreen. “We believe real progress starts with taking action and using data to direct those actions where they matter the most. As an industry, we need to address the Scope 3 footprint. Hazardous waste containers and single-use plastics are one key component, and we are proud to have developed a solution that can create measurable impact by switching to a renewable alternative.”
FrostGreen’s full WoodSafe range of hazardous waste containers is available in several sizes from 0.5 L to 50 L.
According to a cradle-to-grave life cycle assessment conducted by Miljögiraff AB, WoodSafe’s material has 66% lower fossil greenhouse gas emissions per kilogram of material compared with 100% virgin polypropylene (based on 2022 data and end use in Sweden, the study follows ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 and uses IPCC GWP 2021 100). Henrik Alfredsson, Head of Business Development at FrostGreen, adds: “A big thank you to My Green Lab for building a sustainability evaluation framework that brings this transparency to our industry, and to our customers and partners who keep pushing us forward.”
“This year’s award submissions highlighted the continuing shift from oil-derived materials to biobased, recycled, and other sustainability-focused materials in laboratory products,” says Scott Weitze, VP of Research and Technical Standards at My Green Lab. “WoodSafe Waste Containers made largely from biocomposite stand out for addressing a distinct gap in the product market and an opportunity for improved sustainability in lab waste disposal. FrostGreen’s tireless work to collect data and highlight overlooked opportunities demonstrates the innovation and leadership needed to reduce the environmental impacts of the life sciences through better product choices.”
The 2026 ACT Ecolabel Innovation Award marks an exciting moment in the ongoing relationship between FrostGreen and My Green Lab, as both organizations continue to support the laboratory community in advancing more sustainable product choices.
