Press release -

ASPLUND stops the use of silk in their carpets.

In our work to become more sustainable in our production ASPLUND has decided to stop using real silk in our carpets.

Silk is a biodegradable material but producing it has a bigger environmental impact than most natural fibers. Also bigger than in some synthetic ones. Our silk is mainly made in in India but also in China and Uzbekistan and the environmental impact plus unclarity about the conditions of the workers and possible use of child labour in the  factories, makes a continuation of the silk usage a no-go option for us; says production manager Sandra Adrian Asplund
