To mark the announcement of the list of nominees for the 2018 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, Frankfurter Buchmesse and the award office have the pleasure of inviting you to a presentation, followed by a reception.

The program is a co-operation with the Frankfurt Book Fair and begins with a presentation of this year's laureate, the German illustrator and picturebook author Wolf Erlbruch. Professor Boel Westin, chairman of the ALMA-jury, will then present the nominated candidates. After the presentation, the nomination list will be available on www.alma.se/en

4.00 pm Welcome by Gabi Rauch-Kneer, vice president of Frankfurter Buchmesse
4.05 pm Prof. Boel Westin, Chairman of the ALMA Jury and journalist Marcel Plagemann present the work of Wolf Erlbruch.
4.40 pm Helen Sigeland, Director of ALMA, about upcoming events.
4.45 pm Prof. Boel Westin, Chairman of the ALMA Jury, reveals the candidates for the 2018 award.
5.00 pm Reception

Children have the right to great stories

The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award was created in 2002 by the Swedish government to promote every child’s right to great stories. This global award is given annually to a person or organisation for their outstanding contribution to children’s and young adult literature. With a prize of five million Swedish kronor, it is the largest award of its kind. Administrated by the Swedish Arts Council.
