Fortuna – design Jennie Adén and Hanna Stenström
The conceptual starting point of our collaboration with Materia has been the public domain. With specific regard to entrances, museums and lobbies we have developed a large organic furniture that emphasize Materia’s expertise in needlework. Rapid experimentation with textile fabrics early in the process ultimately resulted in an item shaped like a fortune cookie. Inspired by this shape, we experimented with scale and form both physically and using 3-D programming to create the armchair that we have constantly envisaged. As a final detail we have strengthened the sense of it being a fortune cookie by attaching a remarkably large fortune that reads: “big words are small on earth”.
