Joonas Karhumaa –Drawn From Your Dreams

A study of form and the energy underlying creativity in a collection for men in which the starting point has been emptiness and movement as existential substance. My project is concerned with studying my own design process and my own self with the help of an existential framework of emptiness and movement. I have been interested in such matters as right or wrong, the meaning of life and my understanding of what it is to be a human being. In order to deal with these questions I have chosen to build my project on material based on an intuitive approach such as unreflective sketching, writing and photography. I have then analyzed and further developed this material with the help of reflection and draping in order to achieve a harmonious form that expresses both emptiness and movement. The goal of my project has been to create a wardrobe for men by studying fashion as abstract form.
