Swedish Creativity on the Global Stage – Three Wins for Berghs at D&AD in London

On July 2nd, at the D&AD New Blood Awards in London, three teams from Berghs School of Communication were among the winners. Competing with young creatives from all over the world, the students were recognized for their strong concepts and well-executed projects — clear proof of the high creative standards at Berghs School of Communication.

The D&AD New Blood Awards focus on the next generation of creative talent — students, recent graduates, and young professionals — giving them a global platform to showcase their design skills by tackling real challenges from leading brands.

From Berghs, three student teams from the Communication Design program won two Yellow Pencils and one Wood Pencil — awards given to ideas that stand out both creatively and in craftsmanship.

“Through my project, I wanted to explore how design can embody culture, not just convey messages. Winning a D&AD New Blood Pencil for this feels incredibly rewarding — a confirmation that when idea and form align, the result truly resonates. It’s also proof that even old dogs can learn new tricks. I am deeply grateful to Berghs for giving me the space to dare to think with both my heart and my mind,” says Daniel Rosquist, Communication Design student.

These victories at D&AD further underscore an impressive competitive year for Berghs, whose students have also garnered acclaim at The One Show and Future Lions—three of the most prestigious global contests for creative talent. Collectively, these accomplishments reflect the school’s capacity to provide education at the highest international standard.

Berghs has an important mission to shape the next generation of leading creatives and contribute to the nation’s innovative capacity. This reflects Sweden’s creative energy—and highlights Stockholm’s role as a growing hub for talent, innovation, and cultural identity.

“Our students’ wins at D&AD New Blood are a powerful testament to their talent — this is a competition that celebrates bold, well-crafted ideas. It’s not about perfection, but about daring to challenge conventions, surprise the audience, and show a curiosity that sparks that ‘I wish I’d done that’ reaction from the industry’s sharpest minds. That’s exactly the kind of creative courage we strive to nurture at Berghs,” says Camilla Wallander, CEO of Berghs School of Communication.
